Another Office Birthday

This is the third office birthday this month and we only have 8 people in my office! Usually the birthday person is taken out to lunch and their lunch is paid for by the rest of us. One lady is the designated cake person who brings the cake, plates and plasticware. I really don't know if she gets reimbursed for that or not. I don't think she does. Anyway, today it was her birthday so I volunteered to buy the cake. The cake, card, morning donuts (because I wanted them) and lunch trip set me back $22. Not too bad.

I think that was the last birthday for the year. I don't buy Christmas gifts for the office so hopefully I won't have any more extra work expenses. The only other event is the Christmas party but that will only cost me in gas. It is always on the opposite side of town from me. Last year the food was really good. I ate so much I felt sick. This year, I must promise myself to take some home.

Anyway, after donuts, lunch out, and cake today, I am tired. I used to go for a walk when I got home but although the weather is much cooler, it is dark by the time I get home now. Too bad. I guess I will either do some calisthenics in my RV and try not to step on the cat or just go to bed early.

In our office, the tradition is for the birthday person to bring their own cake, or some other sort of treat in if they are okay with having the birthday recognized. I guess it also takes the burden/expense off of others because our office has a lot of people. We also have a lot of October birthdays. Coincidentally enough, nine months after Valentines Day puts you at mid October.

Hmmm, Valentine's day would make sense.

Our office should have that bring your own thing tradition. I hate trying to guess what the other person wants. She told me no chocolate, and then she said ice cream cake. The ice cream cakes were $20! and they were chocolate so I got yellow cake with strawberries instead. She said later that chocolate ICE CREAM was ok, just not chocolate cake. Oh well, maybe next year.

Chocolate must not count if it is in the form of ice cream. Lots of rules to learn it would seem.

One guy brought a bunch of biscuits from McDonalds for his birthday. Said he didn't like cake. I never met anyone who didn't like cake. Craziness.

We have a no cake person too. I can't remember what we did for him. I think we ate his cake for him.

Daizy, do you make income from this blog? I haven't seen you mention it and was wondering if you do does this go towards your mortgage or tie into your early retirement plans?

Wow, sharon rose, I am blushing:) Thank you for the very cool award.

Hello ben! I haven't mentioned making money because I don't make enough to mention! I'm talking pennies here. I don't get paid until I reach $100 and at the rate I am going it will take another 9 years!

I haven't put the effort in to making money because I just do this for fun right now. Things I should do are: Comment on other popular blogs, exchange links with people, submit posts to carnivals, join more blogging groups, etc...to get more readers, thus earn more pennies.
