My Goals For 2014

New Year's Eve was fun.  My mother come over and my sister and nephew played an old family favorite word game called Probe.  I hadn't played it in years.  We only stayed up until 10:30pm.  We were able to watch the ball drop in New York since I get local channels now.

Today my houseguests left and my mom stayed to help me do laundry and take down the Christmas tree.  My house is back to the way it looked on Dec. 1.  I'm ready to tackle the cleaning and organising part of my goals.  I have to work the rest of the week but hopefully I will not have lost my motivation by the weekend.

Ok, on to the goals.  My goals aren't very exciting to anyone but me.  They look pretty mundane  but the most exciting thing to me is that, if all goes well, at the end of 2014 I will be another year closer to financial independence and the next chapter of my life.

#1 Pay down my mortgage with an extra $1,200 a month.  Only 3 years and 10 months to go!

#2 De-clutter.  I have made great progress by getting rid of the RV and garage and now I will tackle the small stuff that has filled every corner of my house.

#3 Eat more healthy, walk the dogs, ride my exercise bike and hopefully get back to a size 8.

#4 Use up what I already have.  This includes entertainment such as watching movies that I own and playing my guitar.  And also, keeping up a garden, hooking up the automatic drip system this year and creating shade so that my plants don't struggle so much.

#5 Learn AutoCAD 3D software.  My employer wants me to do this so I should make an effort.  The problem is that I am a practical person and I don't see a practical use for this except to make my boss happy.  I guess that will have to be enough.

Other random goals which don't have to be completed this year are the kitchen remodel, my bathroom remodel, and the backyard landscaping.  Out at my property, I need to paint the shed, build my snake fence, and hook up a water collection system and also a water pump for the bathroom so that I don't have to haul 4 gallons of water when I want to flush the toilet.

That's it.  Easy, right?  I can't wait to get started!

Not fussed about the autocad (though eldest son would be) but completely with you on the others. Are we sort of thinking along similar lines or are they the worldwide standard??

I think it is world-wide, well, at least for those of us spoiled enough to have so much stuff!
