Mid-July already! This year is flying by. My nephew is back for the next 3 or 4 weeks, I haven't decided on his return date yet. So far all he does is play video games and watch TV while I'm at work. I don't want him doing that for 4 weeks! He is going to the parents' house tomorrow and then I think we are taking one of his friends to the movies on Saturday. The following Saturday is laser tag and another movie for his birthday, I think. He is enjoying his extra month of vacation. School would have started on Friday for him if he was going to the same school as last year.
Jury duty was cut short. I got picked for a trial. I was juror number 3, but on the second day the judge declared a mistrial and we were all excused. I was just figuring out where to park and how not to get lost. Oh well, now I know it isn't as bad as I thought. I was so nervous when they were asking us questions. I'm glad I won't have to decide the man's fate. The judge said we could check back at the end of September and find out how the next trial ends.
I have my online store mostly ready but now that the boy is back, I don't have the time or brain power to work on it so it will go on hold until he leaves. My sister and her family are supposed to be visiting in August or early September so I think my weekends are busy until October. That's ok because it will be cooler then and I can start cleaning out my mobile home again. I've decided that I need to pull the old cars out of the garage and take the garage down. There's no point in paying someone to prop it up. The termites, wind, rain and flooding have eroded 3 corners. I don't know how long it will stay up on its own. I found a company that does that sort of thing. I hope it doesn't cost too much. I'm not going to ask them yet because they will probably want to go see it and my weekends are full. I'll put it on my to-do list for October.

Wow, a mistrial? DO you know why that happened? Some witness probably said something inadmissible which contaminated the proceedings. Better that happens early than later in the trial when more of your time would have been wasted.
It is feeling like AZ this week here in NY as we are in the 4th straight day of 90+ temps and it won't let up until the weekend at the earliest. Can't wait to see my electric bill grrrrrr.
That is exactly what happened, Dave. Sounds like you have experienced it before. The witness mentioned prior accusations and I remember thinking, "Finally, some new evidence!" but nope, we weren't supposed to hear that.
Gee, it's not even 100 here this week. We must have shared our heat with you. My electric bill with the evaporative cooler is only $75. That's much lower than AC.
I have been called for jury duty 3 times going back to the 1980s. Only once was I on an actual case and it went to verdict. Another time there was a plea bargain in the middle of jury selection. The third time the jury was empaneled without having to question me.
As to mistrials, let's say I learned that from watching Law & Order all the time for the last 15 years LOL!
Still roasting here, I saw on TV how it is warmer in Boston and New York than it is in south Florida! Go figure.
