The Day Is Finally Here

I got my keys!!! After almost 5 months of waiting and worrying, I finally got the keys. And I say "keys" plural because the gate keys magically appeared (meaning someone actually asked the old resident about the keys instead of the realtor saying, gee, I only have one key). Today is also Valentine's Day, Arizona's 100th anniversary and it snowed today! Today was a very big day.

It was also a very cold day. My house is now very cold and very empty. I will start filling it up this weekend starting with a refrigerator, washer/dryer and hopefully a bed. My boss said he was going to give me his futon mattress but he came back to town today and said that he sold it. Oh well. He also is only 2 weeks away from selling his house. I can't believe how fast some houses sell around here.

I checked the dryer plug while I was at the house and luckily, the dryer is electric not gas but it is the old 3 prong outlet. I have never had the correct dryer outlet/plug combo. My rental house had a 4 prong outlet and my dryer had a 3 prong cord so I got a 4 prong cord. Then when I moved out here the outlet was 3 prong so the outlet was changed to 4 prong. Now the outlet is 3 prong in this new house and it is built in to the wall so I guess I have to change the dryer plug back to a 3 prong. Too bad I don't have that old 3 prong cord anymore.

That's another chore for my long long list. At least now I can start crossing things off the list instead of just adding to it.

Great News. It will be exciting to hear about your move and decorating. I want to see pics when it is finished.

Thanks Middle Way! Seeing my coworker and my boss sell and buy houses in only a month is mind boggling. I should have been living in this house for 4 months already!

Anonymous, I am trying to go very slowly with the decorating. My eyes say YES but my bank account says NO!

Congrats, Daizy! Hard to imagine it being warmer here in NY in February than it is in ARIZONA!

Your electric oddity reminds me of a minor one I had here when I moved into my place years ago. For some dumb reason, the one one-plug outlet in my bathroom faces downward from the light fixture above the sink. But the top of the medicine cabinet is about an inch below it, making it inaccessible until I somehow found a 3-in-1 plug which could barely fit in the tiny space and give me 2 outlets facing outward to access.

Happy Valentine's Day, too. Did your house send you a card?

Congratulations. We had the same problem with our dryer. When we bought it the cord didn't match our outlet so we bought a new cord and changed it. Then we moved and the new outlet was the old style and we no longer had the old cord.

Dave, that is funny. I rented an apartment with 1 outlet in the light too. I searched all over for it. Must have been built before blow dryers.

Frugal Queen, it was indeed. And one day earlier than expected. That was perfect.

KoBold, thanks. I like it too.

Andy, my pack rat tendencies are telling me that I should have kept the cord...but really, I am sure a new cord doesn't cost that much. In fact, I could actually still have the old cord, but could I find it buried under all my junk? NO. So what's the point of keeping it? I am having an argument with myself.

Miss France, I really didn't think I would get it in the end but I did! That is pretty amazing.

Thanks Jules. I am looking forward to getting settled. Too bad my pesky job takes up so much time.

Thanks Petunia, I hope they don't bark too much. I am still worried about that.

Are you going to add a new mortgage progress sidebar?

Daizy said...

T, not this time. My next goal will be a building fund to build a house on my property.
