Cross another Monday off the list. Only 4 more days until the weekend! And, guess what? It will only be 86 for the rest of the week! The air conditioners can take a break, hopefully until May or June of next year. Next weekend is supposed to be even better, 83 degrees. And then they say it will be in the 70's next week. It does that every year. I always wish it would stay in the low 80's for a month but no, it goes from hot hot upper 90's and then jumps to 70's. At least I won't have to use the heater for a while, not with a warm dog or two next to me.
There are so many things that I want to improve around here by next Summer. I want my property to have a 4 ft. wire fence. Right now I have barbed wire and some wire fence on half of it and the fence posts are already there for the rest of the property. One of my dogs darted out the door and went for a run. Luckily she didn't find a rabbit to chase or else she would have run for miles. I walked around for 5 minutes trying to get close to her and then she ran over to the front steps and waited for me. Whew, I would hate to lose a foster dog.
I also want to set up another dog yard so that the older dogs can sleep while I am gone and the younger dogs can play. That will give everyone their own space. One of the extra rooms needs to be cleaned out so I can move the stuff in my RV over to the mobile home. I need to set up a better kitchen. And I want to move the washing machine to the mobile home. Then I can run a water line to it so that I don't have to fill it up with buckets anymore or get heat stroke trying to do laundry in the Summer.
That is the short list. I am sure as I think about it I will come up with a lot more ideas. Now that the weather is cooperating, I can finally get started.
Oh, and I almost forgot. Let's Be Self-Sufficient posted an interview with me today. If you want a quick snap-shot of my goals and progress, hop over to her blog and check it out!

Here in New York, we went from uncomfortable and humid weather through last Thursday night to cold and rainy most of the last 4 days. The heat came on in my building last night as temps dropped into the low 50s and failed to get near 70.
We seemed to have skipped the otherwise pleasant and moderate weather we usually have in late September and most of October. No A/C needed here, either, thankfully. :)
Loved the interview, Daizy! I'm a late comer to your blog, and I'm always trying to get your particulars straight in my own head.
very interesting. I didn't realize you had been on the pay it off soon kick for such a short time, all the more remarkable.
That was a great interview. Interesting to read about how you got to where you are today.
Dave, I hope this doesn't mean an extra long winter. Maybe it will be a mild winter and just spread itself out over the months. You might think I wouldn't care about winter but I still hope to travel to cold places for the holidays.
Thanks Petunia, I don't often re-cap my whole plan because I am afraid of boring people. Maybe I will link that post to my "Things So Far" post so people can see the big picture.
Anonymous, well, I have always wanted to pay of my debt. Before the mortgage it was my RV, truck, and student loans. But yes, I didn't start the mortgage payoff plan until Dec. 2006.
Thanks Sue. It was fun to write it. It makes the last few years seem quick and easy even though they weren't.
