My carpool driver wanted to stop by the mall on the way home so we decided to go in to work a little early and leave a little early so we wouldn't get home too late. We left at 4:30 and headed over to the closest mall which was quite empty. We went to Macy's first and laughed at the fashions and choked on the prices. Then we headed to Dillards and one of the sales ladies was nice enough to point out where the cheap clothes are. Turns out there is a small section called "Investments" which has business casual pants for $30. The clearance rack was even better as some items were marked down to only $9. She found 4 pants and was happy except that she really wanted one of the higher priced pants for $100. I don't think I have ever paid $100 for a clothing item. Oh yes, I bought a wool coat once and a heavy coat. And then there was a pair of leather boots. That was all back in my college days when I didn't have lofty goals like paying off my mortgage. I still have those boots. Maybe they will come back in to fashion soon.
I recognised some of the labels that I had seen in the thrift store. I cannot imagine paying that much for clothes. It did make me want to go shopping at the thrift store again. After looking at the styles they have now, some of those thrift store clothes weren't as hideous as I thought. They are in style! I'm still not sure I would wear them though.
I got home late and had to scoop dog doo in the dark. That's not one of the fun parts of dog ownership or fostership. My pit mix dog finally wore out the squeaker in her ball. What was that, 2 weeks? I did buy a back up ball so she is happily squeaking away. If she goes through 2 squeaky balls a month and they cost $6 for the heavy duty ones, that's $144 for squeaky balls per year. Over the 12 year lifespan of a dog, that's $1,728. That's a lot of money for squeaky balls!

I think the only clothing item I spend serious money on is shoes. Good shoes are worth every penny to me. A good coat is too, but they tend to go on deep clearance at the end of the season. The last one I bought was 80% off. I never get that lucky with shoes.
Maybe you could buy the squeaky balls in bulk? :)
I don't have a big need for coats now. I can find one at the thrift store pretty easily.
Good idea about the balls. Perhaps I should go straight to the manufacturer. I need 288 balls! But it will have to be after I pay off the mortgage. I don't have that kind of cash.
Finding a way to generate electricity from puppies chewing toys and toddlers running around would most probably solve all our energy problems for good.
KoBold, could we harness them to something? Maybe a large hamster wheel? We would only have blackouts during naptime...and maybe cookie time.
