The RV repairman showed up at 7am to look at my AC this morning. He said it was the fan motor that was broken which is unusual since it is more often the compressor that breaks. A new motor would have to be ordered and would not get here until Monday evening. He did have a used motor that I could have for $50 so I went with that one. Service call, parts and labor came to $220. Not bad. I was only an hour late for work.
He said he would guarantee his work for 90 days so that will get me through the summer. There is a good chance that the fan motor could last as long as the rest of the AC. So now I still owe myself $175 for the puppies and $220 for the AC repair. That's not too bad as long as nothing else happens (am I jinxing myself?). I have $154 left in my budget this month but I have to make it through another week.
I am thinking about leaving my cat over in the mobile home with the puppies until the weather cools down. I don't want to air condition the mobile home for the puppies AND the RV for the cat. Then I'll leave the AC off in the RV during the day and only turn it on in the evening for a few hours. Sleeping with just the fan on at night has been fine. I don't want my electric bill to double because of the puppies.
Good news! 7 AM service call is good business. Glad you have a reliable repair man like that.
He said 7:30 or 8:30 and I said I would be up at 6. I'm glad he showed up early. It gets hot fast. A hot repairman is a cranky repairman!
I think you are so great! You just keep on problem solving your way through one problem through another. Your dogs are so well deserved...and I know it crimped your style and budget but it was so important for you. Just keep on truckin... you are doing the right thing!
Hello carole, thanks for your comment. The dogs did cost more than I expected but it is better to know that now than after I put my semi-retirement plan in to motion. Sort of a trial run and I'm having fun too. :)
