Yesterday we had a big storm roll through and the power went off around 3:30pm. I was at work at the time. I had a feeling that the power would be off for a while. I got to leave work an hour early but it took me 35 minutes to get home because of all of the stoplights that were out. Usually I can get to my house in 8 minutes. Once I turned in to my neighborhood I saw adults and children playing in the big puddles of water. That could only mean one thing...no TV. The power was out at my house. I had hoped my house had escaped. Then I realized that I didn't have a key. I have been using the garage door because my front door key is in the lock-box for the realtors since the house is for sale. But now I was stuck because the garage door wouldn't open.
I called my realtor but she lives on the other side of town and she didn't know any close-by realtors who could open the lock-box and let me in. One of my co-workers had invited me to dinner in case my power was out so I decided to be social and go to her house. I had a very nice dinner and then I headed to my property where my RV is parked. I found my spare key but decide to stay at the RV anyway. I was reminded of the hardships of living out there, dirt roads, no garage, creepy crawly things, the responsibility for my sewer, water and electricity, no laundry! I still want to move out there though. Just as soon as I get my house sold or rented. The thought of being able to save money again (without a mortgage) is very motivating to me.
In the morning, I put on some of the clothes that I have out there (mustard yellow slacks? What was I thinking? I definitely need to donate some of those clothes) and went back to my house and got ready for work.
So, that's my excuse for not writing on my blog yesterday. It's a good excuse don't you think?
