Painting, Flowers, and Owls

What a nice weekend that was.  I am so glad that I took Monday off for my birthday.  That gave me an extra day to do my usual "get ready for the week" chores so that I could enjoy Sunday with my mother.  And I had Saturday to make some progress on my chore list.  No, I didn't paint the bathroom.  I did bring all of the supplies in to the bathroom but I need gloves so that I can wash down the walls with TSP.  I did finish painting the drip edge on the patio though.  The weather was nice although it was a little windy at times.

The drip edge and fascia board are now a matching brown instead of bare metal and rust.  I added some paint to the patio posts but they are quite plain.  I wonder what I can do to spruce them up.

The old shed is quite homely but I added these stars and I think it looks better.  The stars used to be on the other side of the yard, near my bedroom, and when it was windy they clanked against the block wall.  Problem solved.

Under the sheet are 3 tomato plants that I transplanted from pots.  I have a ton of cherry tomatoes but these are big tomatoes so I am looking forward to getting tomatoes big enough for a hamburger.

So, that's what I did on Saturday.  On Sunday, I went to visit my mom and we went out for frozen yogurt and then to the garden center.

She picked out some cosmos and daisies and I got geraniums and dianthus (lovely scented mini-carnations).  Then we went to visit my father and we watched a bad old movie with Katherine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy.

One of her neighbors pointed out the teenage owl sitting in my mother's pine tree.  Isn't he cute?  I believe he is a Great Horned Owl.  Keep your tiny chihuahuas indoors, people!  Hungry owl on the hunt.

Then, Monday I got to sleep in and have a lazy breakfast of quail eggs and bacon.   I did some cooking for the week, took my dogs for a walk, watched some movies and planted my flowers in larger pots.  Now Tuesday is over and I am happy because I only have 3 more days until my next weekend!  I love short weeks.

Glad you enjoyed your birthday. I love those kind of pottering about, doing what you fancy days. Your shed looks like it should be an artists studio now.

I was surprised at how charming my ugly shed is now by just adding 2 stars. I want to paint flowers on it and make it even cuter. It's kind of small for an artist's studio. I can barely stand up in it.
