This week flew by. I made it through Monday without a problem. I cleaned and got the guest bed ready for my parents who came up on Tuesday. My mother had to go for some tests so I took Wednesday off of work to stay with my father and provide transportation to and from the appointment. I was hoping to get a nap sometime but my dad wasn't in a napping mood. We had waffles, watched some old Dragnet, and did a little yard work. We went outside to dig weeds but came back in after only 15 minutes. It was 88F in the shade and probably mid-nineties in the sun. On Thursday, my mother called to tell me that her purse had been stolen when she forgot it in the unlocked car at the grocery store. This led to many more phone calls between us and a couple of calls to the police. It is amazing how quickly your life can be turned upside-down when your wallet is gone. Today we were continuing the phone calls to figure out the next steps when my father had some sort of episode which required an ambulance ride to the emergency room. Luckily, the hospital is close to my work so I was able to go over there at lunch and give my parents a ride home. We still don't know what happened because all of the tests came back normal.
I am glad that the weekend is beginning and I hope there are no more emergencies for a while. I think this week should count as a whole months' worth of emergencies so I should be exempt until November. Meanwhile, I made countless plans and lists and projects in my head but it doesn't matter because life marches on regardless whether I get anything accomplished or not.
So true. Make all the plans you want but life knows how to get in the way. I am glad they are both okay now though. Pretty sure your dad wouldn't be snoozing after all the sugar you gave him!
Maybe the sugar had worn off and he was in a deep sleep. Whatever it was, I'm glad it was a short hospital trip. We were out of there in less than 3 hours. That's the fastest time yet!
