Another 3-day weekend right around the corner! On top of my list is sleep in followed by watch a couple of movies. I am also planning to get some long neglected chores done like pull weed, go buy some pre-emergent so that more weeds don't sprout, and remove the cactus that I started to chop down which is blocking our extra parking space. We have some family visiting next month and I don't want to have to play the car moving game every time someone wants to leave. Also on the list: get some dogs adopted, go out to my property and check on things, and the ever-frustrating, help the nephew with his homework.
If I am really energetic I will swap the tarp that is shading my bedroom for the prettier awning fabric that I bought. That is a big job though so it will depend on the weather and how long I want to spend outside on a ladder.
My renters paid their rent late this month and then only paid 2/3rds of it. Today I got a notice that said they paid the rest. I'm so glad I don't have to be involved in any of the rent collection. The property management company gets to keep the $50 late fee but that is fine with me. I also got a notice that some maintenance was done on my rental property. The garbage disposal was replaced, the sink bracket was tightened, the toilet wax ring was replaced and a new flapper put in. Total cost was $380. I think that is reasonable and the fact that I didn't have to be involved at all is priceless! So far that house has not needed a lot of maintenance (I mean regular maintenance, which doesn't count the times my old renters trashed the place). My property management company does a walk-through every 3 months to make sure there is no damage. I know I am a horrible landlord so hiring a property management company was the right choice. Of course it helps that they are a good management company. I've heard some scary stories.
The weather is starting to cool off slowly. I think it is 100 degrees today but next week should be in the 90's and the night temperature is in the 70's. Lower night temperatures mean nicer mornings. I can get a lot done in the morning before it gets too hot...that is, if I'm not sleeping in.

A cactus blocking a parking spot? I can't say I have ever heard that one before, nor has that EVER happened here in New York LOL!
Looks like your property management company isearning its keep a lot for you lately. You surely have enough on your plate without having to deal with that crappola all the time.
Every Friday morning here on our local cable TV news station they have a live "adopt-a-dog" segment with a bunch of cute pooches. I always think of you when it airs. :)
Although we have a hot day here today (near 90, ironically the warmest day of the entire month!), we have had a lot of seasonable, comfortable nights lately. That will be good for my electric bill which exceeded $100 for the second straight month (I never had a $100 month until last year). Our billing months go from the 20th to the 20th so the next one will be lower.
The previous residents must have thought it looked great to have cactus in front of the house. They even planted it along the sidewalk. I heard walkers comment "that is dangerous!" a few days after I moved in. The sidewalk cactus is gone how and this one blocking the parking will be next. I'm sure baby cactus looks cuter than big nasty adult cactus.
My electric bill is around $150. I don't think it will go down much since we have only been using the swamp cooler but at least my parents pay half of it.
