Right Out From Under Me

Wouldn't you know it, I started to get nervous after my realtor said that a nearby house sold for $10k over the listing price so I asked her if she could meet me at the house after work. She called the listing agent and then told me that 2 people had already put in offers on the house and had submitted second higher offers and the bank was going to accept the highest offer AND it was over the listing price. Wow. I guess there is a point where houses do sell regardless of the economy.

I was very disappointed. I was hoping I didn't have to look at any more houses. I don't really like looking at houses when there aren't any that match my criteria. I looked all over the website again. The houses close to my work are cheap and pretty and some even have large yards but they have home owner's associations and that would cause problems with the dogs. Usually they limit the number of pets allowed. I decided to look a little farther away from my prime location and there are some houses there that have large yards and block walls. I am going to look at them on Sunday. The location is very close to shops and the library and dog adoption events. It is 25 minutes away from work and 40 minutes from where I live now. I'm hoping I can find one that doesn't need any work but I might have to pay more for that. I also checked the crime map and this area has low crime and no sex offenders so that is a plus.

So, for now, I will just try to keep my spending to a minimum and continue doing what I am doing.

Just be patient and you'll find the right one. There are a lot of houses on the market these days.

I would have been pretty impressive if the first one that you saw was 'the one'. It may take a while but I am sure there is something suitable and in your price range.

Even though that house probably will go to someone else, don't totally forget about it until the buyer closes on it. I'm hopefully signing a contract on a house Sunday that had been "sold" twice before. The first time was in May, and when I checked on the house at the end of June I was told it absolutely had closed... but then it showed back up on MLS. Then someone signed a contract on Monday of this week. My agent was told the offer was solid and he was 95% sure the bank would accept it. Well, guess what? The bank made a counter offer and the buyer refused. So, hopefully, the house will be mine!

Executioner, I thought there would be more that I would like. I'm kind of disappointed that I am going to have to comb through so much junk to find the gems.

Lizzie, I think I have looked at 100 houses on line. I've only looked at 11 in person. I am a little discouraged that only 1 out of 11 was suitable.

Good tip Frugal Miser. I am checking everyday to see if it disappears off the listings.
