Yay! Tonight I finally fixed my broken water pipe so I have indoor plumbing in the mobile home again. At lunch I ran over to the hardware store and bought another $4 connector (they were out of the cheap ones, of course). I also went by the camping store and bought a plug to replaced the cracked one. Now I have running water in both the mobile home and the RV and I was able to take a shower. It is so nice to have the convenience of working plumbing again. Being without it for 5 days certainly makes me appreciate it. The only leak left to fix is in the holding tank. I bought some 1-1/4" pipe so all I have to do now is make the time to fix it.
I went by my rental for a few minutes to look at some flooring samples that I got at Home Depot yesterday. They had some returned special ordered commercial grade vinyl tile and it was on clearance so I thought that maybe it would work in the kitchen but it just looks awful.
Too yellow. The floor shouldn't compete with the countertop. I may be cheap but I draw the line at cheap and ugly. I thought maybe I could use it in my mobile home but yellow floor and dogs do not go well. How would I ever spot those doggy "accidents" with a yellow floor?
I haven't committed to any flooring yet and I have decided to take my time because everyone that I talk to has an opinion and I want to make a decision that I am happy with, not just do what other people want. So far I like the vinyl plank flooring from TrafficMaster that reader Kim told me about but it is a little bit more expensive than what I was planning on for the kitchen so I am looking at all options. I think I will buy enough for the master bath and see how it looks. Then if I like it I will put it in the kitchen too.
And I estimated the cost for what I want so far and I am already at $4,000 with only 30 hours for the handyman. That means I will have to do most of the flooring myself. Hmm... I am not going to stress out over this though. If it stays vacant for another month then so be it. My sanity is more important.

Why not just run the laminate into the kitchen too. That's what we did and we are pretty happy with it. Assuming you are getting a pretty good deal on it. Buy a little extra and you have replace ment planks for later if needed.
Have you looked at any remnant places? I have gotten some very good deals over the years at remnant stores.
The flooring looks pretty good.
Anonymous, I like the different flooring for the kitchen and living room. Without that it is just one giant room with a kitchen island.
Petunia, I haven't had a chance to really look anywhere except Home Depot. That's one reason I want to take my time and look around. I can't make all these decisions without seeing all the options.
Pex, the tile is commercial vinyl tile like in Walmart(except yellow). It kind of glows in the sunlight. I wasn't impressed.
