Not So Bad...Maybe

My doctor's appointment took most of the day. It wasn't so bad, just boring. The surgery was an easy thing and that meant cheaper than expected. I have a hole the size of the diameter of a pencil on my nose but the doctor thought there was a good chance that it would heal and fill in by itself. That means I have to keep it covered for 3 weeks! I need to buy a supply of those little round bandaids. If it doesn't heal right I will have to go back for reconstructive surgery which means lots more money. As of now I got away with only a $635 bill, much less than the $1,200-$2,400 quote. I had to use another vacation day but oh well, some things can't be helped. I have to keep the big bandage on until tomorrow evening so as least I will get some sympathy from work tomorrow. I sure wish it was Friday though. I want to sleep in.

Any one in the US who does not support Obama's health bill, for universal insurance is crazy! I never pay for healthcare, not a penny. I can have counselling, diet advice, any surgery needed and I can ask for cosmetic surgery (things like breat reduction/if life restricting or life threatening gastric band operations are done) My dental is subsidised as are optical services. If we can do it, anyone can. Sorry about the huge expense incurred from something you needed and had to pay for. It hurts me to see what Americans have to pay for health care

Go nose, go!
Heal neatly and save your owner further medical expenses!
:-)

Compulsory universal health care is a good thing to have. It has its flaws, but still.

I write this from Hungary.

If your biggest complaint about a day of surgery is that you were bored, I'd say you are in pretty good shape.

I am glad the cost came in so much lower than you expected. That should help your budget, as long as you don't have to go back for reconstructive surgery. How long will it take for your doctor to know if that will be needed?

Sounds like you have the beginning of a third nostril there!

Frugal Life UK, some of us are skeptical about the "free" part. It seems like we are going to pay for it through more taxes. I am in wait-and-see mode. I hope it is a good system but I don't really trust the government to get it right.

Thanks for the encouragment for my nose, KoBold. At least by putting off the reconstruction I can spread out the bills. That is if I need it at all.

Dave, I should know in 3 weeks if it looks hideous. Maybe I should buy a diamond nose stud to fill in the divot. At least I would have something to show for the money.
