I caught my latest foster dog "tasting" my headphone cord. I thought I was careful enough. All cords are kept in my bedroom by day and tucked up on a shelf by night. Well, I guess the headphone cord fell off the shelf and my little dog had some fun while I was doing something else. I didn't notice it yesterday but today I saw the wires poking through. Darn. Those were good headphones too.
I searched for headphone cord repair online but I couldn't find my kind of headphones. These have tiny wires twisted with insulating fibers. I tried the usual twisting of the wires together but it didn't work. The best part about these headphones was that they have a volume control on the cord. I could turn the commercials very low and ignore them. Oh well, I have some free earbuds that I can try. I'd really like some speakers for my netbook since the built in speaker is so weak. I tried using my computer speakers but for some reason I couldn't get them to work. I have walkman speakers somewhere...if I could just find them in all of my stuff. Maybe I'll look for them tomorrow if I can stand the stifling heat.

Reminds me many years ago when my roommate's cat (Noodles) liked to nibble on wires and cables. I once caught Noodles chewing on my Walkman headphones wire, almost ruining it.
Not to be thwarted, Noodles soon chewed through my telephone cable. My roommate happened to have an extra one so there was no harm done.
I'm glad my cat isn't a chewer. I can't blame them though. Those cords are nice and chewy. Good thing you got an extra one. I've lost a power strip, lamp cord, humidifier cord, power drill cord, coax cable from antenna to tv, and telephone cord. That's quite a list. I've never added them all up before.
