One Step Forward, Three Dogs Back

I didn't do very well on my goal to get rid of one thing and to sell one thing. I thought I would have plenty of time to sort through stuff this weekend. I got a lot of chores done and I didn't have any plans for today except to sort stuff but then other things happened.

The lady who runs the dog rescue that I foster for finally emailed me back and said I could advertise my dogs for adoption. I listed them online last night. Around 9 this morning someone called and wanted to see one of the dogs. I drove out to meet them and they really like the dog. I have never done this adopting thing before so I called the rescue lady and she said for me to do a home check. So I followed them to their place and everything looked fine. They gave me a check for $125 for the rescue group (I don't get to keep any) and I kissed my puppy good-bye.

The puppy that was adopted was the mellow puppy that I would have kept her I was looking to keep a dog. That leaves me with destructo-puppy who is eating the door trim off of my walls. I agreed to foster another dog to keep my puppy entertained. The rescue lady brought 2 dogs. One is supposed to be mellow and the other is a puppy. I said I would take both because my puppy needs all the entertainment she can get.

Well, turns out the older dog is kind of cranky so she doesn't want anything to do with the puppies. Hopefully she will mellow out when she gets used to the place.

I'm glad I took the second puppy because my pup and this pup are having a lot of fun chasing each other around. The only bad thing is that this new pup is a barker.

Anyway, so my day of sorting went to the dogs. Oh well, at least this is a short week. I'm looking forward to another weekend already.

Those are some good looking pups. Very photogenic. Do they have names yet?

I hope others think so too. I am worried that I will have a whole pack of black dogs soon. And the new one looks like a pit mix. Hard to re-home. Names are Erin and Santiago. I didn't name them.

How hard was it to let the pup go? I think that would be the hardest part.

I miss her soft head. She was a cutie. But she kept me up this morning barking. Now I have another barker. I wanted an up-grade! Jojo is a bit bewildered by the new dogs. They growl at her and they mean it. She's not the alpha anymore.

Funny how they multiply. I'd be a hopeless cat lady if I didn't have a husband saying no. Hope they all become friends soon, or at least distract each other enough that your place stays relatively intact. They are indeed photogenic.

Do you try to kind of school the pups?

Popular Girl, I tell people I am practicing to be a crazy cat lady when I grow up. I'm practicing on dogs because it isn't as hard to give them away...well, some of them.

KoBold, my schooling consists of stay, sit, laydown, roll over and shake. My first pup knows them all. I managed to get the pitbull to sit today but I don't think she understands yet. The brown pup has a short attention span. The pup I gave away never made it past sit and stay. She was a bit spacey but cute.

Daizy, that is quite a training. Alas, their learning capacity does not depend on you.
