Hooray For The Halti (And Why I Bought Six)

Yes, ANOTHER dog post. My first foster pup pulls like a sled dog on the leash and also wrestles with whatever other dog I am walking. Walking the dogs usually ends in a big ball of fighting dogs which I try to drag home. One plus though is the great arm muscles I must be developing with all the pulling and dragging. :)

I researched leash training online and since I don't have a lot of time to go to leash training classes with just one dog, I decided to try one of the 'no pull' halters. The Halti was highly recommended so I checked the price. $13 at the pet store. I checked ebay and found them for less than that but with shipping the price is comparable. So I decided to bid on a lot of 6. I figured I could sell the extra ones on craig's list and maybe my Halti would be free.

I won the auction and impatiently waited for my box to arrive. I used to walk the dogs three times a day for a short distance but now, with the arrival of the new foster dogs, I am reluctant to walk my first pup at all.

Well, my box arrived today and I tried it out. It worked wonderfully. The puppy hated it, of course, and kept shaking her head and pawing at it but I had a nice walk with no pulling and no fear of tripping and sliding on the rocks. I haven't tried walking 2 pups together to see if the Halti will stop the wrestling too. Maybe I'll test that tomorrow.

The lot of 6 Halti's cost me $26 including shipping. That is equal to the price of 2 Halti's if I had bought them from the pet store. Now I need to sell the extra ones for, let's say, $8 each. If I sell 4 and keep 2 I will gotten 2 Halti's for free and made a little extra money too.

Great arm muscles?
Yes, and torso muscles too.
Just keep in mind to use both hands alternately.
Remember Ben Hur rowing for the Romans?

Hmmm? I think this means you can foster up to six dogs at once now.

Don't worry Boldi, I use both arms when I am pulling the dogs off eachother.

Over the Cubicle, 3 is my limit! Unless of course I get a momma and puppies like I wanted in the first place. I will be amazed if these dogs get adopted though. People don't seem to be adding pets right now, just dumping them at the pound. With all the money I spent on dog stuff, I can see why.

Can you give the Pit Bull back? Maybe you should tell the lady you will think it over before you say yes.

Anonymous, the rescue lady did offer to take her back. But one good thing about the pit mix is that since she doesn't like other dogs, she will keep me from adding any more dogs to my pack. If she liked other dogs I would probably have a dozen by now!
