Fickle Online Plane Tickets

I went online to check the price of my Thanksgiving vacation plane ticket again hoping that it went down over night. It went up by $8. I decided I should just go ahead and get the reservation but just to make sure I checked one day before and after my desired travel dates. I didn't find anything cheaper so I went back to my original plans. When I got back to the screen with my flights, the price had dropped $40. I was surprised but since I had to make my reservations by phone I wasn't very hopeful that I could get that price. So I called and gave all of my info to the airline reservation person. He told me the final price was $380 which was the highest price online. I asked about the cheaper online price and he said that was only for online tickets because it was a promotional deal. Darn. He subtracted the $200 for my voucher and came up with my total as $170. I'm not sure where he learned his math but maybe it has to do with taxes and fees or something. I put the ticket on a 24 hour hold just in case the price goes down tomorrow for some unknown reason. Now I just have to remember to call them back and pay for it. When I went back to the website the price was up again.

And in other news, I got my 5th foster puppy today. I have 3 dogs now. 2 have been adopted. Unfortunately, I think this one is a barker like the last one. Looks like a hound/dobie mix of some sort. I love the ears. My other 2 dogs rarely bark. I hope I can get some sleep tonight.

That may be the cutest pup yet. Hope you end up with a goodprice on the ticket. I haven't bought one in a while and didn't realize how convoluted it has become.

The pup has a long body like a basset. Funny dog.

I should have bought my ticket sooner. I knew I was going for thanksgiving, I do every year.

Why did you have to make reservations by phone?

I use orbitz.com to book my tickets. They have price guarantee, so if anyone else books the same ticket for lesser, they actually refund the money back. I have had a refund of $15 that way

Executioner, that was the only way to redeem my voucher that I got for giving up my seat last Thanksgiving. I used to have to take my voucher to the airport and try to find a ticket agent. Phone is better.

Jennifer, maybe I will try Orbitz next time. I usually use expedia or kayak. This time I had to go directly through the airline because of the voucher.
