Ok, I went to the grocery store with 2 items on my list. Watermelon and milk. By the time I got to the door I had added a bag of baby carrots. I managed to pass on the french bread on the rack a few steps in. Then the flour tortillas whispered my name. But after that I went straight to the dairy section. I got my milk and then, there it was, the day old bread rack. Tucked away in the corner where most people don't go. I couldn't help myself. I got little rolls, big rolls, sliced french bread and (a splurge) apple turnovers. All half off or more. My total came to $16. Not bad for the amount of food but more than I had planned to spend. I'll freeze most of it and eat it for the next month. Not the apple turnovers though. I doubt they will last the weekend.
