One Last Day Of Vacation

I am trying to pretend that I don't have to go back to work. There is no way that I would have enough money right now unless I sold more than I wanted. So I guess I have to go back on Monday.

Ok, the kid's are getting restless. I have to go play again.

I've been having similar thoughts. It is a shame vacation time is so scarce.

Yes it is. Hopefully we will change that soon.

Have you ever considered just selling the house? Or are you thinking that you may want to live there again one day?

Have you done any number-crunching regarding what you can get for it, what you could earn on the proceeds, what you will net each month after the mortgage is paid in full, etc.?

Hi Petunia! I did try to sell the house back in 2007 but that was when the housing market crashed. Now a house 2 doors down just sold for $110k. That's $20K lower than I bought it for. If I sold my house for that price, after closing costs, I'd have about $100k. CDs are only getting 2.5% so that would get me around $200 a month after taxes. That wouldn't cover property taxes and insurance on the house. As a rental, I get $900/m in rent. After taxes, insurance and the maintenance fund, I will get $600/m for my expenses. My very basic budget is $600 so that is why I am thinking about semi-retirement after the mortgage is gone. If home prices ever go up I will definitely sell. I don't want to be a landlord forever.
