I Want A Dog

This is what I had on my office floor all day. My co-worker's dog, who was being dog-sat by another co-worker, was brought back to the office so he could go home with his owner.

He decided that sleeping under my desk was the best place in the whole office. It kind of made his owner a little jealous. It made me take a quick look at Petfinder.com where I found a picture of Max a short hair, medium size, calm, shepherd mix dog. Doesn't say if he likes cats. Too bad I couldn't bring a dog to work everyday, but then I probably wouldn't get much work done. No, I don't think I'm ready for dog ownership yet plus I am sure my cat hates dogs and this RV is not big enough for 2 fighting animals.

The visiting Labrador found my snack drawer. Maybe that's why he liked me.

My friend did not bring the bird to work. Her husband was willing to try another afternoon with it. We were a little worried but he read the bird book and decided to see if the bird liked water. It loved it and spent an hour preening itself. A busy bird is a quiet bird! They also figured out that putting the cage in front of the window in view of the outdoor bird feeder gives birdie hours of free entertainment. It's about time something associated with that bird was free! My friend went back to the pet store at lunch and bought another medium size cage so they can move the bird to another room without moving the giant cage, and bird toys, ladders and a swing. Then she stopped at the grocery store to buy it fresh greens. That is going to be one happy bird.

Cats get used to dogs eventually. It is pretty rough at first though. My dog is still kind of afraid of my cat, but she is afraid of just about anything, so I don't really blame the cat.

Yes but I am not ready for the litter box boycot or whatever other punishment the cat thinks of for me. Too much carpet in this RV. Plus new doggy accidents. Yikes!

Litter box boycott sounds terrible.

The comic strip Get Fuzzy is pretty spot on with the mean and stupid cat vs the nice and stupid dog, and their poor helpless owner.

My cat has me well trained.

Well, maybe you're not ready for a pooch yet, but when you are I can highly recommend labs. I have a black lab and she is a sweetie. She and my cat have learned to get along to go along.

I saw a video on one of those "Funny Animal" shows one time of a lab who would open the fridge when his mom would leave and eat the stick butter and the banana bread (only!). He would leave the door open of course, but he managed to look as innocent as an angel when confronted by his misdeeds-Who me? Must've been that banana-bread fiend cat! Finally, she rigged up a hidden video camera to catch him in the act. Yep, I love doggies.

Why not borrow a well behaved house trained doggy for a few days to see how kitty reacts. Got any friends or coworkers that can give you a loaner?

Tessie, labs are sweet and they seem to like me, at least that one did. I like shepherds too. Maybe a mix would be good.

Anonymous, I've seen kitty react to the neighbor's dogs but then I think those dogs would eat her. If my coworker needs a dog sitter again I think I will volunteer.
