Easy Come, Easy Go

Back when I had a higher paying job I decided to pursue a sewing hobby to see if I could develop a product to sell. Well, I lost interest or I should say, I lacked the skill and investment capital and the idea died. I have since sold the sewing machine, serger, embroidery machine and a bunch of thread. I still have a ton of fabric, elastic and notions. This morning I started to tackle the job of sorting all of that stuff. I spent 2 hours winding elastic on to cardboard cards. I didn't realise I had so much elastic.

Some lessons I learned from buying off of Ebay:

Be sure of what you are buying. Not everyone describes things in the same way. I bought some elastic that wasn't what I was looking for, and then I bought a different kind, and another, and another...

Buy a very small quantity. A good deal for 100 yards is not really a good deal if you only need 1 yard. Especially when you have to pay for the shipping! Those spools are heavy.

Stuff like elastic has a shelf-life. Don't buy a lot because it gets old and brittle.

Of course, I didn't care back then. I had the money and I was having fun buying stuff and trying out my new sewing machines. I found my old notebook where I wrote down every expense. I spent $220 on elastic and trim. Ouch. I'm not sure whether I want to try to sell it separately or just as a lot. I know I can't get $220 back but just getting it out of my mobile home would be a great feeling. I'm sure someone out there can use a pile of elastic.

You could make a giant elastic hammock out of it.

Or just put it on Ebay...

I do want a hammock. I saw how to make one out of 6 pack rings once. I don't buy 6 packs though.

I thing an elastic hammock is also known as a giant slingshot.

Could be. Sounds somewhat dangerous if you got into it too quick. It could fling you onto a cactus or something.

That was funny!

Or sell the elastic after all, and buy an army surplus hammock from that income.
Or...oh, sorry, listing options is done in an earlier post.

The army has surplus hammocks??? I bet I could make one out to the camoflage netting that they use. There's an idea!
