Cleaning Out The Closet

I have a big bag of clothes to give away. It is sitting at the foot of my bed so that I have to crawl over it every day until I actually take it out to the donation center. If I put it in the closet it will sit there for years. Then I might be tempted to take things out and put them back in my closet even though I know that I will never wear them. Take that dress on top. I think that flower pattern is so pretty...for curtains maybe...as a dress on me, it looks horrible. Totally the wrong color for me. But I really like it, on a hanger, and I want to keep it, just because.

The sooner that bag goes out the better. I actually have some room in my tiny RV closet again and I like it that way. I have been trying to wear the items that are left so that I can justify keeping them. I'm sure there are many more things that could go and I would never miss them but I hang on to them just in case I suddenly find the perfect pants to match or whatever. This doesn't mean that I am not going to go out and buy more clothes. Clothes that I want to wear are always welcome, clothes that just look good on the hanger have got to go!

Hi there-Well done, but get it out quick, LOL! I've decluttered a lot lately, I've given some to my sister in law, some to charity and I sorted more out this morning for charity. I get it out the same day if possible, so I can't change my mind!

I got the clothes out to the garage. Hmm, the bags are getting dusty.

I agree with getting it out asap. I'm on my 6 donation bag in the last 4 months. I get alot of guilt donating some items that I've been holding onto to list on ebay, but who knows when I'll actually do it. My goal is to get all of our clothing (grow into clothes for my kids and ebay items) out of our basement. I don't want to risk anything getting musty.

Hi Sharon Rose, yes, getting rid of it fast is the key. I am so bad at that step.

Big Sis, dusty is bad. Moldy is even worse. There is a big moldy bag in my garage from the old renters that needs to go to the dump. Oh, I forgot I need to go to the dump. Hmm, I probably won't get to it this weekend.

Jaclyn, yes, keeping stuff so long that it gets ruined is something I do a lot. If I can just keep that in the front of my mind then maybe that will help me get rid of it for good!
