Shuffling Stuff

I am super busy packing up the stuff at my house. I wasn't organised enough to have a garage sale today and that was my only chance. Most of the furniture is sold anyway. The new renters want half of it and friends want the other half. She wanted my table and chairs too but I just couldn't part with it. I'm such a pack rat.

I spent from 5:30pm to 11pm cleaning the house Thursday night and spent the night there. I'm not used to hearing dogs barking and cars driving by. Thankfully there weren't any police helicopters. They ofter fly around the school yard next to the house with their search light on. It is fun to stay there for a few days, watch cable tv (although there is nothing on!) and take long hot showers and baths (unlimited water, yea!). I used all 40 gallons in the water heater :) I stayed there last night too and started too feel...how should I say? wasteful? sitting in that big house. Too much space.

I am collecting all of my laundry from the RV to take back to the house and wash. Everything that doesn't get washed often like blankets, jackets, etc... can easily be washed without having to worry about not enough water or having to haul at least 5 buckets of water per wash/rinse cycle. Such luxury!

I have a few maintenance things to do like kill the weeds and spread pre-emergent weed killer. It should last for 6 months and since I put in the lease that it is my responsibility, I might as well do it now. I also need to touch up the caulking in a few spots and try to fix the linoleum patch. It looks ok but one side is curling. I bought a vinyl floor seam sealing kit. I hope it works.

So much to do and so little time. I wish I had a 3 day weekend this time! Now I just need to figure out what to bring back for dinner so I'm not tempted to buy fast food again ($2 snack wrap from Mc D's for lunch). The last tenants left 2 pints of yummy ice cream but I ate it all. I'm thinking nachos because my avocado is looking kind of over-ripe. Just need to print out my rental agreement and I am off to the house again. My new tenants have a check for me. Yea!

Sounds like a great frugal weekend so far...free cable and water. Hope the new tenants work out for you!

Things are looking much better for you!

I love how the normal American living experience (house, cable, hot water) now seems uncomfortably luxurious to you!

Good luck with your new renters! I hope they work out for you.

I love that the house is too big & a bit too indulgent for you now. We could all get used to a little less luxury. Nice to be geting back to normal I am guessing.

Cool Guy, well, I could have shut off the cable earlier to save money but I wanted to watch all of those channels for one last weekend. Turns out there wasn't much on.

Sharon Rose, I wanted to be a lot more organised but I think it would have taken another month. Oh well, now I have plenty to keep me busy.

Over the Cubible, I sure do hope so. I'm exhausted!

Shuchong, I think it is funny too. All of that hot water at the turn of a faucet! And no worries about the water tank running dry. People forget how lucky they are!

Lizzie, after a day of cleaning that house I definitely want to move in to my little shed! It is so tiring!

Saver Queen, thanks! It was great to stay in it a while and appreciate the little things like parking in the garage and indoor laundry. I wish I had time to bake some cookies. Oh well.
