Last week I made an extra principle payment of $1,900. It wasn't as much as I had hoped because of all the money I had to spend to fix up the house, but it was still a good step in the right direction. The new mortgage total is $51,674. If all goes as planned it will be payed off in 1 year and 9 months.
I haven't added all of the utility bills for Jan. and Feb. yet. I hope I can cover them with the $500 that I budgeted. Then there's the matter of a little trip to Disneyland that I have planned for next month. I need $174 for my plane ticket. The travel fund only has $99. If my new tenant pays me for the furniture tomorrow then I will have enough.
There were also 2 unexpected bills. Well, I should call them forgotten bills. I forgot that I subscribed to PF Blogs last year. I had planned to cancel my subscription but forgot about it and it renewed for $70. Oops. Then there was my website's domain name yearly registration fee of $20. I'm not sure why it was twice as much as I thought it was going to be. I should read the fine print. I guess I was thinking that my blog would earn enough money to cover those costs. Nope, didn't happen.
Hopefully, after all of the utility bills come in next month, I will have enough left over to make another payment. Maybe I'll even dip below $50k. That's something to look forward to!

You're doing a great job paying off the mortgage!
Don't despair too much about PFBlogs either, that flashy box got my attention here.
I didn't buy anything, but you've got another set of eyes now.
Back on track! How long of a lease did your new tenants sign?
My blog still hasn't cracked the $10 mark yet, but I just use the free blogger hosting, so I don't really worry about it.
Thanks for visiting weakonomist! I'm sure I could try harder to make money from this blog but I want it to stay fun. I'm tempted to take the ads off. They just get my hopes up.
Over the Cubicle, I like month to month leases. I don't think any one should be stuck at a place for longer than 30 days. Life changes fast. They say they want to stay for years though.
I bought a .com address because my job blocks blogger blogs. I thought it would allow more people to see my blog from their offices.
Month to month is very nice of you.
My office blocks just about everything. Blogger, Wordpress, etc, plus most independent blogs - the Simple Dollar, Early Retirement Extreme, etc.
Plus a lot of other stuff not blog related. They are pretty extreme about the whole thing though.
Those auto renewals get me sometimes too. I try to avoid them if I can.
You should be getting your domain name cheaper. I'm paying less than $10 a year for mine. I have some at Godaddy and some at Ipower both are about the same price.
Hi there-you are doing so very well indeed and I really hope you have a good time on your trip to Disneyworld
You'll be sub $50k before you know it. I've also been caught out by auto renewals, it's annoying ;(
TightFistedMiser, I do use godaddy but looking at my receipt closer I see that I paid $9 for a privacy fee. I think I should go back to blogger.
Hi Sharon Rose! If none of the 11 children who are going to Disneyland with me get sick it will be a good trip!
Hello Laura, if I can stay away from buying campers then maybe I'll get under $50k.
