I have made it 9 days on my Shop-less Challenge. I have almost reached my goal of 10 days without grocery shopping. I had been shopping every week but I thought if I stretched it out to 10 days then I would eliminate one trip to the store saving gas, time and the temptation to buy things on impulse.
I ate my last piece of watermelon today. I have one more serving of cherries. I think I have a shriveled orange in the crisper. That’s it for fresh fruit. After that I will have to settle for applesauce. I have rationed my milk. I have a little left but I am walking a fine line between ‘saving’ and letting it go bad.
Now I have to think about what I want for lunch next week. This week I had sandwiches. I haven’t had spaghetti in a while. I also have rice and beans that I bought with the intention of making red beans and rice. I think I will finally buy the other ingredients I need and make a batch.
So, let’s see, I need milk, cheese, fruit, stuff for red beans and rice, and vanilla ice cream. Vanilla ice cream is my always-on-hand junk food. It’s good for milk shakes, sundaes, and root beer floats. I already have spaghetti sauce and noodles. They are staples in my pantry. If I can keep the list to just those few things I will be doing great.
