My Shopless Challenge Update

So far so good on my Shop-less Challenge. I haven’t been to the grocery store since Tuesday and I hope I can make it until, well, a week from today would be nice. I don’t think my watermelon will make it that long. I buy a whole watermelon and cut it up. It usually lasts a week before it starts to get a little on the mushy/slimy side. It helps to pour off the juice every day or so. Then the watermelon at the bottom of the container doesn’t sit in old juice. I bought cherries too so hopefully they will outlast the watermelon and I will still have fresh fruit for my lunch.

The milk definitely won’t last that long. I only bought a small half gallon this time. The store has a buy on get one free deal for gallon size milk but I really struggle to drink 2 gallons before it goes bad and I hate to throw it out. With the smaller size I pay less and I don’t have the stress of worrying about food going bad. It isn’t a good deal if I have to throw it away. One of these days I am going to split that buy one get one free milk with one of my friends. She only uses milk on cereal and can’t finish 2 gallons either.

I still have plenty of ground beef for spaghetti, hamburgers, nachos or sloppy joes plus some deli meat I bought for sandwiches. I shouldn’t have any problem finding food to eat in the fridge. I just need to resist the temptation to run to the store for fruit and milk, the 2 things I don’t like to freeze, because I usually come home with other un-needed items as well.
