Mortgage Update for November 2014
My mortgage should be paid off in 2 years and 11 months, or faster if I don't have more expensive emergencies or buy big ticket items. And, for some more good news, I got a 4% raise this year! That's around $100 a month after taxes and subtracting the increased charge for health insurance. If I put that extra $100 towards my mortgage, I could take another 2 months or so off of my timeline.
Tomorrow I'm taking a half day to go have Thanksgiving lunch at the nursing home with my dad. Unfortunately, he fell this morning and broke his arm. I don't know if he will be able to enjoy his lunch or not. On Friday I hope to go out to my property to finish rat proofing the place, after I have a leisurely morning at home, of course. Those are my big plans for my vacation time and I am perfectly fine with that.

Wow, a 4% raise these days? Very impressive, Daizy! Sorry to hear about your dad. Falls are often much more serious for the elderly than for us younger folks. (My dad's ladyfriend, 86, recently died after complications from a fall in her apartment.)
Well done you. Very inspirational
That is sad, Dave. My Dad's father died after falling. Everyone says my dad is lucky that he didn't need surgery and pins. He's in a lot of pain because he forgets that he isn't supposed to move it. I hope it will heal quickly.
Thanks, Lizzie. Things were looking up and then my car got sick today so the plan isn't looking as optimistic.
Wanted to congratulate you on the 4% increase. Your impressive contributions to paying your mortgage inspire me, and I am glad to see that a salary increase means you can pay off the mortgage even faster.
Thanks, anonymous. If I add it to my mortgage plan I can pay it off 2 months faster! I love adjusting my mortgage spreadsheet to see how extra payments will speed things up.
