The Gnawing Is Silenced

I drove 20 minutes to my friend's house to check on her cat and do my laundry and guess what? I forgot her key. Another 20 minutes and I was back at home getting the key, then 20 minutes more and I was at her house again. Whew. What a waste of time.

I brought my 2 dogs to her house because they love car rides and seldom get to go anywhere. They had fun exploring her yard. They especially liked her birdbath full of rainwater. I did a load of laundry and then decided to stick around and put it in the dryer because I was watching Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull. I didn't see how it ended because my clothes were dry and the dogs were restless. It was kind of a weird movie anyway. It reminded me of Stargate SG1 since they already did the whole crystal skull/alien episode. I would have to agree with the many reviews that I read that said the old Indiana Jones movies were much better.

Yesterday I went looking for a live rat trap. Home Depot only had live mouse traps. I opted for a glue trap. I hate using them because if whatever gets caught on there isn't dead I want to rescue it. Anyway, the glue trap worked but I left it there just to make sure it was really dead. Eeewww. At least there won't be any more gnawing for a while. I need to plug the holes again. Last time I used steel wool which seemed to keep out the mice but obviously did not deter the rat.

Let's see, things to look forward to this week...rent money and going to look at houses on Friday or Saturday. My boss comes back in to town on Wednesday. I don't know if I consider that good or bad. Half of the people in our office are on vacation so I am hoping it will be a quiet week.

The ending is weird. Probably just as well to miss it. I know they says they waited 20 years for the right script but i cant help thinking they should have waited just a little longer.

I agree. We like Indi for his history, not science fiction. Leave that to Daniel Jackson. heehee.

I wish I hadn't read this. I didn't know glue traps existed but they sound pretty cruel. I think once you make the decision to kill another living creature, you should do it as quickly and humanely as possible.

Ya, Executioner, glue traps are better than poison bait but still take too long. I'm going to buy a live trap so I am prepared for next time.

Glue trap + frequent checking + wham with a blunt object is more humane tham glue trap alone.
As for plugging holes: glass. Glass wool or crunched glass mixed with plaster. Should deter gnawing.

KoBold, that is exactly the kind of personal interaction I was trying to avoid. I didn't even want to use a spring trap because it might make a mess. Yes, I am squeamish.
