Old Dogs And New Tricks

Oh my gosh, it is the end of the first week of the year and I am soooo happy that I made it to the weekend. Today was not that bad actually. It probably helped that it was Friday. One boss was leaving on a 2 week trip to Hawaii so he was in a good mood. The other boss showed me how to make a chart with Microsoft Project and I think it will be very helpful.

We asked the boss what he was going to do in Hawaii. He said "relax". I said,"I bet your are going to read work related things". He said,"but that's relaxing!". Another person that enjoys their job. I need to be that person that enjoys her job.

After work I decided to go to the dog pound and pick up an old cocker spaniel for a rescue group. I hope this is only temporary. They are supposed to find him a long-term foster home. He is pretty much blind and maybe deaf. I sure hope he can learn how to use a dog door with steps!

I like the idea of looking after animals whilst their owners are away. Could you not advertise direct and then just not take bookings during the time you want to be away?

I really think that you would be so happy in a field relating to animals.

Lizzie, I could. It is jus that Thanksgiving and Christmas are the busiest times for the business. But I could certainly start with the other times of the year and see what happens. I am reluctant to start though because I don't seem to have any free time as it is.

Anonymous, as long as I can get away from them once in a while! Sometimes I just want to walk without stepping on somebody. :)

I just seen the picture of your new dog on his dog bed and thought of a tip from my brother you may be interested in that has worked very very well for me. We would have to purchase a dog bed almost every year for our Shepard mix, until I started using a crib mattress ( or a thick piece of foam the size of a mattress)I just put a crib size mattress protector and crib sheets on it. I can wash the sheet and protector as needed very easily and the bed (mattress) has lasted over 8 years now. All can be found at goodwill/thrift stores...

Dot, the thrift stores around here don't sell mattresses anymore but there are plenty on craig's list. I've often thought about buying a cheap used futon mattress. The only drawback is that with so many new dogs, 9 will leave it alone but 1 will destroy it. The dog bed in the picture was a freebie from a friend so the price was right.
