Mortgage Progress For December

I managed to make an extra mortgage payment at the end of December. My total is now....$6,870. Tomorrow when my regular payment goes through it will be only $6,270 or something close. It is getting so low, I can't believe it. Only 3 more months to go if I can stay within my budget. I added up December's expenses today and, thankfully, I came in under the line. Of course it did help that I stole some money away from the mortgage and designated it for gifts back in November.

I can't seem to get to sleep tonight. Even though I know I have to get up early and go to work tomorrow, I don't want to believe it. It was a very fun vacation and I don't want it to end. But if I am going to get this mortgage paid off I had better put some effort in to my job so I can keep collecting those paychecks!

Last year was bizzare for the mortgage market. In the first half of the year, you had a decent number of home sales keeping mortgages for purchases stable, thanks to the home buyer credit. In the second half of the year, that changed as demand crumbled when the credit was withdrawn. At the same time, you had very low mortgage interest rates throughout much of the year cause a mini-refinancing boom. 2011 will look very different, as the housing demand continues to struggle and mortgage interest rates have begun rising.

Jazzie, the housing market certainly will be interesting this year. So many predictions. I think it will remain stagnant.
