Dog juggling is not as fun as it sounds. Most dog rescues will take back any of their dogs if the new owners can't keep them for some reason. Today an owner took their dog to the vet and told them they didn't want the dog any more. Of course, the vet called us. The owners are supposed to call us directly and it is nice if they give us time to find a new place for the dog but that was not the case. I ended up picking the dog up and it is sleeping in a crate right now. Luckily, the weekend is almost here. One of my other dogs went home with my friend for the night so I have the same number of dogs. I was hoping that dog would get adopted today because two people were supposed to come meet him. I never did hear back from them. Maybe on Saturday one or more of my dogs will find a home when I go to the pet store again.
When I came home today the dogs had knocked the hallway door off it's hinges and closed the door. One dog was trapped in the living room while the rest were left in the hallway and dog run. It was a good thing that the momma of the puppies didn't get trapped in the living room all day! Anyway, I spent most of tonight fixing the door, cleaning the messes, repairing the linoleum where my dog tried to dig his way out, and putting up a curtain across the doorway of the bathroom to keep the puppies a little warmer.
It was a busy evening and now I am going to bed.

I cant believe how trivially people behave with their dogs, just ditching them, not turning up for adoption visits when they say they would etc.
Do the re=homing agencies make a charge for the dogs? Here you have to be home visited to make sure your house is suitable and pay about £35. They say the money is to cover neutering and jabs but i think it is just to ensure people are serious. You are doing a good job.

Lizzie, we charge a $125 adoption fee and do a home visit and still people abandon their dogs. They even sign a contract that says the dogs must come back to us if they don't want them any more. These people didn't even call us. amazing.
