Generics or OTC?

I asked my doctor about my heartburn problem and he prescribed omeprazole which is what is in Prilosec. I got the prescription filled so that I could compare the price of the generic prescription to the over-the-counter version. With my insurance I paid $15 for the prescription for 30 pills. That's 50 cents a pill. If I bought the name brand Prilosec, I would pay more but if I bought the generic over-the-counter, as in Walgreens' version, I would pay 48 cents a pill. The savings would be greater if it was on sale. It is the same dosage too, in case you are wondering. I'll have to keep an eye out for sales.

Today was another leisurely and very hot day. I defrosted one of my freezers, took a nap, took pictures of one of my dogs for her adoption advertisement, and cleaned my floors. This dog was an owner turn-in. They said they couldn't afford her anymore. She knows her basic commands, is very calm in the house and playful outside. She caught kennel cough in the over-crowded city shelter and, well, you know what happens after that. I took a chance on her because she was already spayed and I am glad I did. She is a great dog.

I also cooked chicken for the week and chatted with one of my sisters. That reminds me, I need to call my Mom tonight. I haven't talked to her in while. I think my parents have changed their minds about becoming snowbirds but they might change again. The winter is approaching quickly and there is nothing like snow and ice to make the Arizona climate seem inviting.
