Distemper And Anger Management

I took my little dog and my foster puppy to the mobile pet clinic this morning to get microchips so that if they get lost they will, hopefully, be re-united with their owners. While I was filling out the paperwork the vet techs were talking about people who brought their animals in for shots. One of the most important shot for dogs is for Distemper. It's actually a combination vaccine for Distemper, Parvo, and other nasty doggy diseases. Some people do not understand what the shot is for and they ask the vet techs for the "anger management shot" or "the one that makes them not aggressive" because they think the shot affects the dog's "temper". One lady didn't want her dog to get the shot because she was happy with her dog's disposition the way it was.

Ok, that has nothing to do with frugalness, I just thought it was funny. But those shot clinics are a great way to save money on shots. I wish I had known about them before I took my cat to the vet and came out with a $70 bill. The shots at the clinic are only $15 and they even do a quick exam of the pet (same as what the vet did for $70). There was no line and they come out to my area of town twice a month. Sure, they won't be able to test for all health problems but if you don't have the money to take your pet to a vet, the shot clinic is a great alternative...and microchips were only $15 too.

Ha! Notice any difference in the 'temper' of the little pup after the shot?

Sheesh--are you telling me they now have mood-altering drugs for puppies. Shame on you ;)

Over the Cubicle, she seemed crankier. I think she got the anti-distemper shot.

Simple in France, actually, I just heard someone say that their dog is on Prozac. I didn't know they did that with dogs.
