Smelling Like An Outhouse

I guess that is the opposite of smelling like a rose, right? When I came home today, I opened the RV door and I knew that I could not put off emptying the black water tank until the weekend. I thought I could make it but no, my RV smelled like an outhouse. I hooked up the outlet hose which was being used to water my tree and emptied the tank in to the septic system. Then I needed to rinse it out so I took a shower. I needed a shower anyway. It was 100 degrees outside and I was sweaty from trying to find a pillow for my co-worker's dog. It's always in the last bag I look in. I killed a few more spiders while I was in the shed. The sticky traps only trapped 3 spiders. Maybe they were the not-so-smart spiders. I found the pillow. It is not really for her dog. She has an old pillow that she is going to use for the dog and I offered to give her one of my good pillows to replace it. I gave her my old stained pillows a few months ago for her elderly dog.

Anyway, I can usually go for 2 months without emptying the black water tank but with this over 100 degree heat, it gets stinky twice as fast. After I rinsed the hose with my shower water I unhooked it from the septic again and put it back under my tree. I have one of those good smelling candles burning to get rid of the smell inside. I can't smell a bad smell anymore but maybe I should go outside and come back in just to be sure. Oops, I just heard thunder and it's starting to rain. I think I'll go do some Arizona rain dancing just for the fun of it. :)

100? I was kind of whining today because it hit 90.

I can't imagine that makes the black water tank smell very good.

100 was cooling down. It was 106 in town and 103 at my place. It made it to 84 in the office. The AC just can't keep up on days like that. At least I'm not in Yuma any more. 112 was the norm out there.

The Summer of 1980 was the hottest I can remember. It was over 100 for about ten days in a row if I remember right. I've never felt 112 before.

Anything over 100 is just HOT!

Trying to get rid of bad smells with fragrances makes me remember the punch line of an old joke:
"Who pooped under the pine tree?"
:-P

BTW we just bought an old (1985) camper for stationary use.

KoBold, is it the pink bathroom camper or did you find a different one?

I would have opened the windows but it was still 100 outside so I opted for masking fragrances. Maybe the flame burned up some of the sewer gas.

time to lose the smell and try the composting method

bugbear, I still want to try it but I don't have much room in the RV. As soon as I figure out how to air condition the shed, I'm moving in and definitely doing the composting toilet thing.

Daizy, we found another. It is newer and in much better shape. Lots of opportunity for fixung, shaping up, remodelling and tinkering though.
