Lovely Long Weekend

Having four days off from work was great. I got so many little things done that have been floating around in my head. I got three bedrooms ready for the renters. I hadn't made the beds since October. Now that the weather is a little on the chilly side, I put flannel or jersey sheets on all the beds, except the twin bed. I didn't buy cozy sheets for the twin. Oh no. I will NOT buy more sheets! Now I need to vacuum and spray some windex around the guest bathroom. I put new caulk around the counter top in the bathroom. The house is only 3 years old but the caulk is shrinking and drying out. I still need to go around the house with some touch-up paint. I collected old flower heads and seed pods from the backyard. Someday I will have a place to plant them on my property.

I haven't been to the grocery store for 2 weeks and I am trying not to go until December, and then only buy the absolute minimum. I have to move out of here in 4 weeks so I should be trying to eat the food that is here again so that I don't have to haul it out to my RV. My house guests will be gone by the time I get back from visiting my parents and then I will have 3 weeks before my next guests arrive. I am debating whether to list my house now on another web site to try to find renters between Jan 2 and 22. I think the time is too short. I will probably wait to list my house until January and maybe I can find renters for March. Last year I had much more interest in March than January. I also have to remember to get all the legal stuff taken care of before I go on vacation. Insurance and the property code have to be changed over to "rental" status. That means no more deductions for mortgage interest and higher property tax and insurance. Oh well, rentals have other benefits such as depreciation, so I have heard. This year will be the first time I have to deal with rent on my tax return. I am not sure how it works.

It's back to work tomorrow. I've made my lunch, washed my clothes, I just need to take a shower and I'll be ready. I'm not excited about going back to work but I am glad to have a job and paycheck because everyday brings me one step closer to financial freedom!
