I made an extra payment of $636 bringing the mortgage total to $18,940. Under $20k finally. If all goes as planned, I will still have it paid off in 6 more months although my buffer at the end has been eaten up. I really hope the next 6 months go as planned or else I'll have to add another month on to the end. That's not the end of the world, of course, I was just hoping to have the mortgage gone before Christmas.
And if I stopped paying extra now and started saving for a giant pack-rat proof garage, it would take 2 years and 11 months to pay it off the slow way. Much better than 24 more years which is what it would have been if I hadn't paid any extra.
Under 20k.
ReplyDeleteYipee!
Yippee! The end is just around the corner. Just have to make it through the scorching hot summer.
ReplyDeleteAre you going to have an internet mortgage-burning party when you make the last payment? I am sure all of us online followers of you would love to see it in person but we will surely settle for pictures of the mortgage aflame!
ReplyDeleteI forgot that people do that Dave. I should do that. Or maybe I should give it to the dogs to shred. :P
