I saw this article in one of the local newspapers, Caution Rattlesnakes Guess who's waking up? The temperatures last week were in the 50's. This week they are in the 80's. That means the rattlesnakes are waking up and looking for love. I've been trying to work on clearing the weeds out of the front yard (or is it now my back yard?). The yard I am speaking of is the old yard in front of the sliding glass door where I had the snake issue before.
Here is the view from the sliding door. The weeds under the tree are especially worrisome since I can't tell if there are snakes hiding in there. You can see the pool from this view and my extra water tank that really needs to go next to one of the buildings, although, it would be helpful if the building had gutters first.
Hopefully, the cat that visits my back room is also keeping an eye out for mice and rats under the mobile home which attract snakes. The dogs love running out in to the old yard in the morning and evening but I'm going to have to stop that practice unless I am out there with them. And I really need to work on finishing the 1/2" hardware cloth barrier around the chain link fence in the new front yard. I'll be working on it this Saturday (as well as putting away the pool) since my nephew is going on a choir trip and I need to pick him up from school at midnight on Saturday. On Sunday, we will go in to town for church, youth group, laundry and grocery shopping. Oh, and probably a shower at the house to conserve water out at the mobile home. Another busy weekend and they are all going to be like this until school is out in May. I'm looking forward to summer. Not the heat part of summer but at least I will have more free time.
