Maybe 3 More?

Another work Christmas dinner came and went.  I wonder how many more of these are in my future?  Three, I hope.  Maybe four.  I always fret about what to wear, try on numerous combinations, sneeze a lot from trying on fancy clothes that I never wear, and then remember that these expensive restaurants always have dim lighting so I could throw a black coat over just about anything.  I ended up wearing green pants and a red jacket with faux fur.  It looked fancy when I was sitting at the table.  I sat by my boss' wife and we chatted about animals from cats to goats.  The boss and his wife are planning to retire on a mini-farm and they spent one of their vacations at the Mother Earth News fair learning how to raise and eat their own chickens.

The food was good but I would never go there if I was paying.  I ordered the $38 beef tenderloin.  The garlic mashed potatoes woke me up numerous times during the night with heartburn.  I brought the rest home and had it again tonight but this time I mashed cauliflower in to the potatoes.  So far so good.  Hopefully I will be able to sleep tonight.  I get to sleep in tomorrow because I am picking the boss' wife up and taking her to the airport at 10am.  I am also attempting to transport my chihuahua family to their vet appointment after I drop her off.  I hope she doesn't mind sharing the car.

I never went to any of my office holiday parties in the 23 years I worked there. The last thing I wanted to do was stay late at the office and hang out with coworkers. I had a long commute on the trains and those trains began to get scarce after the evening rush hour, too.

Even the midday lunches my division's managers took us to in the last few years I worked there I was glad to get out of thanks to working part-time the last 7 years, creating scheduling problems for the bosses. Not even free lunches were an incentive to try to arrange my schedule to attend more of those functions.

I don't like to go but I do because there are only 10 of us and everyone goes. I don't have a spouse to drag along so I think I should get my second dinner, either in a doggie bag or as a gift certificate. The big boss is retiring so I don't know if this dinner tradition will continue. I hope it doesn't.

I have a holiday function to try and figure out how to deal with this week. It is a similar problem of a small office. Not my idea of fun. In that regard a dinner might be easier, it is one focused event as opposed to a "party." Ugh.

I have a party (the dancing and music type)a fancy lunch, a less fancy dinner and a breakfast. Lucky for me I have have to pay for the cheapest two. I don't think I am the only one who loves such things? Maybe I am. I have turned down another lunch as days were getting a bit full :)

thequiltingdoberman, dinner is definitely better than party in my opinion. We tried office parties twice and they were kind of awkward. At least with dinner, there is a end in sight.

Lizzie, I am so glad that we don't have dancing and I don't think I would go if I had to pay. That' the only thing that gets me there, free food.
