Another Work From Home Day

My boss is always traveling and he relies on us to get him to the airport and pick him up.  On Tuesday, I went out to lunch with a co-worker for her birthday and then on the way back we swung by the airport since my new vehicle can now hold more than 1 passenger comfortably.  I had to un-fold the back seats which had been folded up for maximum dog cargo space but that was easy to do.  After I was sure my boss was in a good mood and while we were waiting in the drive thru to pick up something for my boss to eat, I asked if I could work from home on Thursday and he said yes!  I am thrilled because working from home is still a novel thing to me and it is so much easier to work from home when I have errands to run like getting my blood drawn for our health insurance (I hate that) and taking multiple animals to the vet.  Now, instead of getting to work late after getting my blood drawn and then leaving early to collect the animals at home which is in the opposite direction from the vet and then driving all the way back, I can get up early, do some work, do the blood thing, work some more, (take a nap), take the menagerie to the vet, and work some more.

The only problem with working from home is that I don't have Autocad on my home computer yet but our IT department said they would fix that for me soon which probably means next year.  I even remembered to attempt to log in to the remote server tonight in case I needed to run a full computer scan which I did so I started it now.  Maybe next year I can work from home one day a month and take one vacation day a month.  That would make my job a little more tolerable.

I worked from home for 27 months in 2001-2003 when I began working part-time (20 hours per week). I still had to report to the office one day a week (about 6 1/2 hours) but the rest of the time I worked from home.

It was great not having to get up early and haul my sorry ass on the trains for about 75 minutes each way. Some days I was on line more than others so on the days I worked fewer hours I could do what I wanted such as local errands and volunteer work. Because I was not getting home all worn out most of the time, I could more easily do things in the evening, too.

This arrangement turned my life around. Even after it ended and I had to report to my office 3 dyas a week to fulfill my 20 hours, I could still maintain my new lifestyle with more difficulty. Looks like even one day a month for you will be pretty helpful. :)

20 hrs/week from home would be awesome. Maybe I will get there eventually. So far, I think this is only the third time I have worked from home this year. It is great to be able to get work done and get stuff done around the house. Usually I just come home from work and want to get to bed as fast as possible.
