Freeloaders No More

The people at work like to ask me how my quail are doing.  I mean, I don't have kids so what else are they going to ask about?  So, my boss asks me how the quail are doing.  I say they are still on strike.  He says maybe they are molting.  I say do quails molt?  He doesn't know.  Finally, yesterday, I remembered to look up "do quails molt".  And the answer from backyardchickens.com, YES.  And it lasts for around 4 weeks.  Ok, so it usually happens in the Fall but here in AZ we lack seasons, especially this year.

I was thinking that I haven't seen an egg in around 4 weeks and I go out to feed the quail.  Guess what I saw?  An EGG!

Yay!  I can go back to my tradition of collecting an egg a day and having a pan full of tiny fried eggs on Saturday.  How fun!  One of these days I'm going to order some hatching eggs so that I get more quail and lots of eggs.  I don't know which gets higher priority, hatching more quail or buying goldfish for my aquaponics project.  Maybe I'll ask for both for my birthday next month.  12 Quail hatching eggs $10.  6 goldfish $3.  Affordable and fun!

Don't you hate when the boss is right? Especially about things like molting.

And by the way, congrats on the persistent mortgage paydown. I'm cheering for you...

Kelsi, haha, yes. It doesn't happen often (just kidding boss). Thanks for the encouragement. Maybe this time I will actually be brave enough to semi-retire instead of getting another mortgage! Thanks for stopping by!
