My Wallet Needs a Break

It's quiet again!  The noisy quail are gone and I can take peaceful naps on my couch again...if only I had the time to nap.  The woman who bought my white quail was sick on Sunday so she came over on Monday night to get them.  Turns out there were 2 boys and 1 girl which is why they were fighting and probably why they were so noisy.  She didn't mind though.  They fit right in with her other quail and she was very happy to have a new color in her collection.  I still have my silent golden quail.  They barely make any noise at all.  I would love to have more quail as long as they are the silent variety.

I've been getting work done on my truck all week.  It started out with a simple request to fix my automatic door lock and morphed in to an oil change, spark plugs and possibly brakes.  I ran out of cash to pay the guy so I ran over to the closest Chase bank and found only an empty store front.  I had to go to the closest bank which was a credit union and they charged me $2.75 for the ATM.  Today I checked my Chase account and not only did I pay the ATM fee but Chase charged me another $2 for going out of network!  I was appalled so I wrote them an email and I expect them to reimburse me $2 at least.  I know they don't have to but I think they will.  Now I know that the closest approved ATM is inside of the gas station quick-mart across the street from the now vacant bank.

My attempts to stop spending have failed miserably.  I went to the grocery store for dog food yesterday and came out with a $130 bill.  I spent $8.50 on grapes!  Ok, so I have spent that much on candy before but I could have bought oranges or pears or something cheaper.  They are good grapes though.  I also spent $40 at the thrift store because I was tired of my wardrobe.  I got one pair of non-jean pants and 6 shirts.  Now I can stop spending for the rest of March.  I can't think of anything else that I need so it shouldn't be a problem...except for all of those birthdays coming up and soil for the garden and those goldfish I wanted...

Definitely! I wish I could stop paying for truck repairs but it is my own fault for ignoring them for so long.

That double-dipping by banks is annoying. I am glad I have never been subject to it. Some states outlaw it. But it the set of contradictory reasons the banks give which annoy me. The home bank says they charge because the customer has "burdened" the overall system with an out-of-network withdrawal. But the other bank charges because a "foreign" customer has caused wear and tear on their ATM. But, as you seem to imply, the home bank has been spared use of their ATM so aren't they saving money?

I feel your pain on your spending spree. I had a rare spending spree starting after Christmas which included 2 costly new tires for my car. That stretch is supposed to be a mild time before the upcoming expected spending spree which includes car insurance, income taxes, and a dentist visit. BLECH!

Glad to hear you can get some good naps again! Dreaming about quail?

Oh, dentist bills are a pain! Physically and financially. I got my $2 back from Chase. Now I know to avoid that situation again. The sound of the quail squawk is slowly fading from my memory which is bad because now I want to hatch more quail! At least when I am napping I'm not spending money.
