Pre-Spring Weather

The weather was beautiful today in Arizona.  It makes me feel bad for being indoors.  I did spend a little bit of time outside uncovering the tomatoes so they could get some sun and working on my quail cage.  I can't believe I still have tomatoes growing from last year.  One day soon we are going to have some Winter weather, I just know it.  We haven't had our snow day yet.  We always have at least one day of snow.  The weeds are starting to grow in my front and back yard.  I need to spray them or pull them but I keep hoping that it will freeze at night and kill them so that I don't have to do it.

The outdoor quail cage is going to be a dog crate on a raised platform on the covered porch.  I attached 1/2" wire mesh to the dog crate, next step: build a platform.  Unfortunately, my drill is out at my mobile home.  Well, since I am sure that February is going to be a cold month, it is probably best that my quail stay in their rubbermaid containers in the house for a while longer.  I only got 2 eggs this week which is disappointing because I am waiting until I have 5 eggs before I eat them.  Quail don't usually lay eggs during the Winter.  I have been trying to extend their day with a light on a timer but it doesn't seem to be working.  Having my little terrier dog bark at them every day probably doesn't help either.

The rest of the day I watched movies and did laundry and avoided finishing the financial aid application for my nephew.  Hopefully, I can get that done tomorrow.  Since I am my nephew's guardian, or as I like to call it, Personal Assistant, I get to fill out the forms.  I also get to attempt to get his doctor to re-submit a bill from September to my insurance and convince the Social Security office that they are sending mail to the wrong address.  Ugh.  These are my least favorite kind of chores.

Animal based chores definitely more fun than admin based chores!

Daizy, we are in the freezer here in NY with sub-freezing temps nearly every day for a week and for much of this month. Forty degrees right now seems nice and balmy.

Lizzie, especially when I don't know how long they will take. One phone call? Seven phone calls? Go stand in line? I think I will have to use some vacation time just to sort one of them out.

Dave, I didn't want to rub it in that the rest of the country is freezing. I would send you some of our Summer heat if I could!
