Post-Guest Blues

Having guests for a week was fun even though they gave me their cold and I had to work two days.  It was great motivation to get the living room cleaned up so now the house looks much better.  I need to continue this organizational spree and do some serious purging.  For example, I have a big, old TV in the living room without a remote control.  So far, I have not found a use for it.  Without the remote, I have no way of changing it to AV mode so that I can play DVD's.  Researching the problem on the internet has given me a few ideas to try.  I have already tried a universal remote but that didn't change the mode, it only changed the channels.  I can try to find a place that sells replacement remotes for that TV.  I also read that a VCR might automatically switch the TV to AV mode.  It didn't work with a DVD player but I do have a VCR so I will try that.  If that doesn't work, it is time to put it on freecycle because it is just taking up space.

Today I did laundry and picked up all the toys that had been spread all over the house.  The dogs enjoyed being able to roam free again.  I miss my guests but it is always good that they leave before I really want them to leave.  Next time, I hope the weather is nicer.  It was hot and humid and my evaporative cooler could not keep up with so many people in the house.  Tomorrow I need to clean up the yard.  Pool toys, sand toys, and empty bubble containers are littering my porch.  Time to clean it up and move on to my next project.

I have never thought of it like that but yes, nice if they go leaving you wanting more instead of glad to see the back of them. Its been a while since it was just you in the house, takes a bit of getting used to.

I love having the house to myself but I have to be careful because I get so lazy when no one is around. Having guests is very motivating! No lying on the couch and eating ice cream all day in front of the TV.
