Mortgage Payment Plan Kick-Off (Take 2)

It's time for my Mortgage Payment Plan Kick-Off (Take 2).  Paying off my rental house was so much fun that I thought I should do it with my current house.  Pre-paying my mortgage seems to be the most motivating and rewarding frugal idea that I have had.  I've tried increasing my income but I always seem to spend more money that I make.  Paying off my mortgage gives me a month to month goal that I can see and track with my spreadsheet.  Also, I can track my expenses daily and make sure that I am staying on budget.  If I happen to get any extra income by selling something or a gift, I can re-calculate the plan and watch it get shorter and shorter.

My mortgage balance is $71,120.  I made an extra payment of $1,200 for the month of September which brings the total down to $69,818.  Only 49 months to go!  Hopefully it will be less than 49 months and I especially hope that it won't be MORE than 49 months but I never know what life will bring.

After this mortgage has been paid off and I have an adequate amount in my savings, like $20,000, I hope to be able to rent out this house, quit my job, and live on my other property on the income of my 2 rental houses.  I haven't decided if I will turn a shed in to a tiny house or if I will renovate the old mobile home, or maybe both.  I have a few years to think about it.

Excellent! Sounds like a great plan to me.

Thanks, Lizzie. I hope this time is not as much as a roller coaster as last time but then life is a roller coaster, isn't it?

Thanks, Executioner. And I could call this my 'death to my full time job' plan too because that is what I hope will happen soon after it is finished!
