Halloween At The New House

It's my first Halloween at this house and in this neighborhood.  I wasn't sure if it would be a quiet neighborhood or one of those that gets bombarded with trick or treaters so I bought a lot of candy.   I had all sorts of plans for decorating but I didn't want to go overboard so I ended up with a pumpkin, a cat and pumpkin placemat that I got for 50 cents and I hung on the door, spiderweb and some flickering battery powered candles.  I looked all over for the candles and ended up finding them in the Christmas section of Big Lots.  I don't like that they bring out the Christmas decorations so early but in this case it worked out.  Multi-holiday decorations.  I like it.

We ended up having a very slow night.  22 trick or treaters over a 2 1/2 hour period.  It was fun though.  I have a lot of candy left over to take to work and all of the decorations can be reused for next year...except the pumpkin, of course.

The kids in our area are all too old or too young at the moment. We had no-one although I did see some nice ones out and about when I dropped my son off. Very disappointing

I guess the tradition is dying. Maybe we will have to go to one of the many parties in order to see all the costumes. It was just kind of awkward being on a Wednesday and all.
