Forging Ahead

While we are waiting for my parents' house to sell in Washington state, we decided to go ahead with our plan to add an extra bathroom.  The handyman came out and gave us a quote for labor between $1,500 and $1,800.  That was acceptable to my mother so we are now shopping for the best deals on a laundry sink, shower stall, and  toilet with upflush drain system.
Below is the laundry room where we will be stuffing this new bathroom.  Of course the cabinets and shelf will have to go.

So far the prices are around $50 for a laundry sink, $400 and up for the shower stall and $950 for the toilet/drain system.  We also need a new washer and dryer because the bearings are going out on the washer and the timer is broken on the dryer.  I looked in to repairing those items but it is quite expensive.  My mother wants to buy new appliances because they will be hers and will move to the new house eventually.  I was going to keep my washer and move it to the back porch for washing dog laundry but it is sounding worse and worse everyday so I don't think it will last much longer.  I am keeping an eye on craig's list for a nice used washer around $200.  I found one but it was on the opposite side of town so I will keep looking.  There are so many washing machings for sale, I am sure it won't take long to find one near me.

Do you have any reservations about those upflush drains? Having a toilet that doesn't rely on gravity scares me a bit. Toilets shouldn't have that many moving parts in my opinion -- simpler is better. Plus, what happens if the power goes out?

No reservations at all! (because it isn't my money) haha...I like testing out new products when other people are footing the bill. If the power goes out we have 2 other bathrooms. I'm all for it if it will cut down on family fights over the bathroom. The less tension the better.

If you continue as though you were staying then they are bound to sell up more quickly.
It will all be good soon.
