Dog Habitat Project

I have been working feverishly on my dog habitat project.  I really wanted to get another mom and pups to foster but I didn't want them to be in my bathroom like the last group because they wake up at night and play and  I can't sleep.  I thought up a small fenced in, covered  area for the family but I still had a problem of the heat.  I took my largest dog crate and covered it with rigid insulation board and then a moving blanket.  I added a window A/C unit at one end (since it won't fit in my window and I am surviving with just the swamp cooler) and made a door flap out of that plastic runner material that people put down the hall to protect the carpet.  I really should have taken a picture but I'm too tired now.

I didn't have time to hem and add grommets to my awning fabric so I just bought a large tarp instead and attached it under the eaves so that the rain won't get in.  My mom and pups arrived this evening.  She had 3 puppies on Saturday but one didn't make it.  I'll just assume that was the runt.  She is a 50 pound rottweiler mix and she is very sweet.  I hope she doesn't bark tonight and make my other dogs bark.  I have a no-bark collar but I didn't get it ready.  I was hoping I wouldn't need it.

You are very creative. The summer has finally arrived here and i cant think of doing anything much more strenuous than sitting under the ceiling fan!

So glad you worked it out. Good luck with the new batch of puppies. I wish there were more people like you in the world!

I love my ceiling fan, Lizzie! After working on the dog habitat I jumped in the shower and then sat under the fan. Perhaps I should crawl in to the air conditioned dog den for a while.

Analise, thank you. I am a little surprised that it did work so well but I did have to make a few changes. The temperature in the dog den was quite comfortable today so I call that a success.
