I was looking for houses with at least 3 bathrooms for my mom to preview today. Her comment was that they are "a lot of house". Well, yes. When you have a house with 3+ bathrooms it usually is a big house and often has a guest house or guest quarters which is what we are looking for...I think. My mom goes back and forth between wanting a small house and wanting a big house. If she wants us all to live together and not have to share a bathroom I think she will have to pick a big house for now. She can always downsize later.
The 3 houses all had large yards for my dogs and it made me wonder if I could sell my property and buy one of these houses. According to Zillow.com, my property is worth $160k. I think I could sell it for $90k if people were actually buying vacant land at this time. $90k is not nearly enough to buy one of the houses that I was looking at which were all in the $250k range. Then again, why would I need 3 or more bathrooms and 3,000 sq.ft. just for myself? I wouldn't. The house that I have now is great for me and the dogs. It just isn't great for me and the dogs and my parents and nephew. And now we are back at our original problem.
I'm sure we will figure something out. In the meantime, it is fun to look and dream.
