Making A List

It was a very quiet day at work today. I went to the grocery store at lunch and tried to buy enough to last me for the next 6 weeks without over-buying. I think I should make an effort to eat the food in my pantry since if I get the house I will just have to move it. I bet there are some things in my pantry that should be thrown out too. I have a tendency to hang on to things too long. The last example that I remember was a jar of mayonnaise that had last year's date. Some things last longer than their shelf date but mayo is not one of those that I want to take a chance on.

My loan officer is checking to see if the house I am buying qualifies for a closing cost grant. I guess certain zip codes get closing cost assistance. I hope so but I'm not counting on it.

I looked closely at the pictures that I took back in September. I've only been in the house one time so I don't remember it that well. There are a few things that I would need to live there. The big one would be a fridge. Then a table and chairs would be nice. A dresser and computer desk would be handy. There are already light curtains on the windows and a stove and microwave in the kitchen. I don't think I will need very much to start. The funny thing is that I sold my table and chairs last year at this time. Who new I would need them again so soon. That's ok though. I'm sure I will find a good deal on craig's list again. That is where I got the table and chairs last time.

There is a good website to check on the shelf life of food products: www.stilltasty.com

The kitchen looks cute and the back yard looks nice, what other pics of the house are hiding up your sleeve?

Please refresh my memory, you plan to take out a 30 year mortgage for this house? How much did you offer?

Jo Ann, I love the name of that site. Thanks.

Petunia, I offered $91k which was the asking price. I decided not to haggle because it had only been on the market for 3 days and there were no pictures on the listing yet. It was soooo much better than anything else I was looking at and had everything I wanted AND was 600 sq.ft. larger than any of the same price houses. I pounced. I really didn't think the bank would ok the sale because it is worth more.

I am going with a 30 year mortgage because I want my payments to be low. If I decide to pay more then it will shorten the time but if I lose my job or something, I will still be able to make the payments with a minimum wage job. One of my plans is to eventually rent it out and go back to building something on my property if banks ever start doing construction lending again.
